Krasnodar is located on the banks of the Kuban River, the city’s population is more than 600,000 people. Previously, the city was called “Ekaterinodar”. On the one hand, the former name of the city recalled how Catherine the Great granted part of the Kuban lands to the Black Sea Cossack army, on the other hand, the city was named in honor of the Great Martyr St. Catherine, who is considered its heavenly patroness. The famous opera diva Anna Netrebko was born in Krasnodar.

Krasnodar is the “Gateway to the Caucasus”. The city’s main attractions are the Monastery of St. Catherine, the State Museum of Fine Arts, the city park and the magnificent concert hall of the Krasnodar Philharmonic Society.
Football
Krasnodar is home to the home arena of FC Kuban, which was founded in 1928 and is currently one of the oldest football clubs in Russia. FC Kuban plays in the Premier League.
Stadium
A concept for the construction of a new stadium for 40,000 spectators to host World Cup matches that meets all FIFA requirements is being developed for the city.
