Podolsk is situated in close proximity to Moscow and has a population of 180,000. It is the administrative center of the Podolsky District of the Moscow Region. Above all though, it has a long history as an industrial city.

Podolsk offers a number of sights, among them the Holy Trinity Church.
Football
Football in Podolsk appeared in the pre-war years but was not developed at a professional level. During its 60-year stint under the name of Mashinostroitel in the federal championship, it belonged to the higher-ranking football teams. At the end of the 20th century, the professional football club Vityaz was founded. Vityaz currently plays in the First Division.
Stadium
As part of the bid, a special concept for new World Cup stadiums will be designed in line with FIFA requirements.
